6 ways to create a stylish spring tablescape

Spring has well and truly sprung, and the blooming daffodils and tulips have got us feeling inspired. This season’s all about incorporating colour and creativity into your table setting, so we’ve popped together our six favourite ways to create a stylish spring tablescape perfect for hosting those spring soirees!

1. Layer with light tablecloths

Create an effortless blank canvas for your spring table setting with a light linen tablecloth or table runner in a simple, neutral shade to let your crockery and accessories do the talking. Add colour with placemats, napkin holders, ceramic tableware and additional finishing touches including vases and quirky candle holders to add depth and interest to your space.

2. Experiment with a pastel palette

Nothing says spring quite like baby blues, sage greens, pale yellows and blush pinks to reflect nature’s own palette. Our bestselling Curwen collection in an off-white oatmeal shade lends itself perfectly to the springtime, allowing you to mix and match various pieces in the vast collection for a cohesive look. For a bolder look, our Millfield collection is popular for its beautiful, deep green hues and unique glaze finish that adds another horticultural element to your table setting.

3. Add handmade pieces for a unique look

They key to creating an effortless springtime tablescape is ensuring it doesn’t look too polished. You want to create a table setting that reflects your own unique tastes and style, and doesn’t look straight out of a catalogue. Collecting handmade pieces is a great way to ensure you’re creating a one-of-a-kind collection of eclectic pieces that tell their own story. Here at West House Pottery, all of our items are handmade with care, each one perfectly imperfect and utterly charming!

4. Prepare for seasonal dishes

The return of the sunshine means the return of picky teas – and we for one cannot wait! From large serving bowls for dishing up vibrant seasonal salads (we recommend our Moroccan cous cous salad recipe!) to small dishes perfect for tapas, nibbles and picky bits, incorporating different shapes and sizes of crockery, as well as different hues, can create interest while tying into the changing season.

5. Incorporate beautiful blooms in vibrant vases

Bringing the outdoors in is a brilliant way to elevate your spring tablescape while adding a pop of colour to your place settings. Display your best blooms in a bold patterned, printed or textured vase to add height and interest to your space. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind finishing touch, be sure to take a look at our limited edition Pots Collection designed to be displayed at pride of place on your dining table, bookshelf or mantel piece.

6. Let’s take this outside!

The warmer season brings with it sunnier days, and though rare in here in Cumbria, we love nothing more than al fresco dinners in the sunshine. In fact, we have a handy guide on how to create the perfect outdoor table setup no matter the season – but remember to prepare for the inevitable spring showers with a waterproof parasol!
